TAG Sports Centre headed to Calgary last weekend, February 7-10, for the 2020 Elite Canada Competition. Elite Canada is a competition held every year to decide what the high-performance ranking is for Novice, Junior, and Senior elite athletes, while also deciding who is on Team Canada for the Novice, Junior, and Senior levels. TAG was represented by four athletes; Sienna (11), Becca (12), Beth (14), and Sydney (14). Congratulations to TAG’s Novice athletes, Sienna and Becca, for their amazing hard work shown at Elite Canada 2020! Sienna and Becca demonstrated strong performances and we are so proud of their accomplishments!! On day 1, Sienna placed 8th on Vault, and Becca placed 11th on Vault. On day 2, Becca placed 2nd on Beam and received a silver medal! Congratulations to our Junior athletes, Beth and Sydney, for doing an amazing job at Elite Canada 2020. Sydney placed 5th AA and 2nd on Beam! Beth placed 12th on Vault! TAG and Gymnastics BC gives a huge, special, congratulations to our Junior Elite athlete, Sydney Turner. Las Vegas, “Lady Luck” 2020 TAG Sports Centre from Port Coquitlam recently traveled to Las Vegas to compete at the annual Lady Luck North American gymnastics competition. They are so proud of all of their athletes and their success at their first competition of the season! Here are some highlights from the epic meet! Junior Olympic level 6 athlete Kaly (10) won 1st on bars after performing an awesome routine! She also placed 4th all-around in her age category! Also in JO level 6, athlete Hailey (15) received a bronze medal on beam after completing a precise routine! Junior Olympic level 7 athlete Sanvi (11) received a bronze medal on bars after performing an amazing routine and placed 3rd all-around in her category! Junior Olympic level 8 athlete Vanessa (11) came 3rd on floor for her awesome routine! JO 8 athlete Cassidy (19) received a 5th place medal for her powerful vault! Junior Olympic level 9 athlete Hannah (13) received a bronze medal for her energetic floor routine, and Sienna (11) placed 4th on beam! A huge congratulations to our Junior Olympic level 10 girls who rocked this competition! Not only did they do amazing individually, but they also placed 5th in the team category with only 3 athletes! This November, TAG and Flicka athletes Beth, Sydney, and Jayne, represented Team BC in Coombs la Ville, France! Our athletes loved making new friends from all over the world and meeting Ecaterina Szabo, x4 Olympic gold medalist! Our athletes rocked finals at Combs la Ville! Beth placed second on vault, Sydney placed third on beam and 4th all around! As Team BC, we finished 4th! Our athletes also competed at Gym Massilia! We were joined by TAG athlete Ilka! TAG will be offering a full men's gymnastics program starting the first week of July. Mark Rowbotham will be the men's head coach. As well as running the men's program Mark will be coaching the pre-school program. Exciting times.
